Requirements


Description
As a forensic structural engineer on our team, you will be asked to diagnose building problems, damage and/or defects and then design and implement repair solutions. We routinely evaluate damage to buildings from earthquakes, wind, hail, vehicle impacts, fire, snow and ice, floods, moisture intrusion and differential soil movement.

Design
Experience designing with structural steel, concrete, masonry and timber

Construction Knowledge
Working knowledge of the building envelope, roofing systems, components and cladding as well as current and historic building codes

Field Work
Willingness and ability to work in the field 40-50% of the time, including heights and confined spaces

Personal Skills
Excellent communication skills including the ability to write technical reports of your findings for our clients; Exceptional customer service skills

Qualifications


Education
BS Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering – Master’s Degree Preferred

Licenses
Professional Engineering License (PE or NCEES record required)

Certifications
CFEI or other certifications are a plus; Court qualified as an expert, or able to become court qualified

Software
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and AutoCAD, Bentley Ram, StruCalc

Previous Experience
3 to 5 years of residential/multi-family/light commercial design experience, Forensic experience highly desirable

Construction Experience
Construction Design experience; Construction Management experience a plus
