More than a decade after it was originally created, Knott Laboratory’s animation and reconstruction work examining the fatal crash that claimed the life of Princess Diana has found a new audience. Portions of our 2013 forensic animation project were recently incorporated into the FOX/Hulu special Celebrity Crime Scene: Princess Diana, helping viewers visualize and better understand the events surrounding one of the most scrutinized traffic collisions in modern history.
The special revisits the 1997 Paris crash using modern virtual reconstruction techniques and investigative analysis, exploring the circumstances, evidence, and enduring questions surrounding the incident. According to FOX, the program allows viewers to experience the crash from perspectives not previously possible and uses advanced visual recreations to examine the sequence of events in greater detail.
