Ricky L. Nguyen, M.S., P.E., DFE

Mr. Nguyen received his Bachelors of Science in Engineering with a Mechanical Specialty at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. During his undergraduate studies, he was involved in many professional organizations and societies including Tau Beta Pi, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE), ASCE and ASME. Also during his studies, Mr. Nguyen participated in the AISC/ASCE National Student Steel Bridge Competition. He was heavily involved in the design, finite-element analysis and fabrication of the steel bridge. Mr. Nguyen then received his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado Denver with a specialty in biomechanics. His graduate studies focused on vehicle dynamics and biomechanics. During his graduate studies, Mr. Nguyen’s worked on a semester long project on the possibility of femur fracture in a frontal accident without the driver’s knee hitting the dashboard.

Engineering and Design
While at Knott Laboratory, Ricky continued his research into mechanical engineering design, safety engineering, vehicle dynamics, and accident reconstruction. Ricky has investigated vehicle accidents that include, but not limited to, the following: commercial vehicles, single and multi-vehicle impacts, and vehicle rollovers. Ricky has also investigated product liability claims that include, but not limited to, the following: automotive vehicles, forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, wood chippers, balers.
Mr. Nguyen is licensed in Colorado and Arizona and is also ACTAR certified.
