Frozen Pipe Investigations

Frozen pipes are a common claim during the winter months.

The ensuing water damage can result in large losses and costly repairs. Knott Laboratory has extensive experience investigating the cause and origin of a freeze loss. We have tested many types of plumbing materials in our laboratory and our knowledge of frozen pipe conditions is excellent. We can determine if adequate heat was maintained through investigation of the building design and plumbing system, and through the use of heat loss calculations. Our freeze loss investigations can determine if the homeowner is at fault, if construction defects are present or if the event is a sudden and accidental loss.

Knott Laboratory can be onsite quickly and typically provide a written investigation report within a week. In addition to investigating the freeze loss, we can provide repair plans to restore damaged areas and check for code compliance.

Frozen pipes are not always simple. Contact Knott Laboratory for a speedy and comprehensive solution.
