Knott Laboratory provides forensic engineering and animation, Civil & Structural, and Fire & Explosion Investigation services to reconstruct accidents.

Origin and Cause

All damage, whether it is large or small, has a cause and an origin. We can help.

There are many different origins of damage, for example: mechanical damage, improper installation, manufacturer defect, age and general wear, and exposure to the elements. However, some of these origins can also be causes; for instance, heavy winds caused the improper roofing installation to be discovered.

Determining a cause and origin of the damage plays an important role in solving the problem. In order to actually repair the damage that occurred, it is important to know where the origin of damage was. Once the origin has been found and the cause has been determined it is possible to facilitate repairs.

All of Knott Laboratory’s structural engineers are qualified to enter and conduct investigations in structures known to have asbestos spills.
